Dr Jeremy Everest
moved to West Linton in 2007 from Edinburgh and live right in the middle of the village with Morag and our two girls, who both attended the Village Nursery and are now at the Primary School. Having grown up in Birmingham and then lived all over Edinburgh I have grown to love the inclusivity and sense of community that exists in West Linton- something I have never encountered anywhere else I have lived. Even though we have only lived here for 11 years, we cannot imagine leaving.
In my day job I work as a geologist for British Geological Survey in Edinburgh. My work has taken me to many cold places around the world to work on glaciers, but more recently I have been lucky to project manage offshore research drilling expeditions in warm places. My geological background has given me a broad understanding of climatic and environmental processes, and in particular their impacts on communities. I am able to bring this knowledge to my role as Community Councillor, providing insight into the resilience of West Linton and surroundings to environmental change.
Living right in the middle of the village I am also very keen to see improvements in road safety, whether this relates to driving habits, parking, or even encouraging more people to walk or cycle, ultimately making our home cleaner and safer.
