Representing the community to the Scottish Borders Council

We are here to advise, petition, influence and advocate numerous causes and cases of concern on behalf of our local community. If you have any concerns or issues locally, the Community Council provides a great opportunity to become involved in the West Linton area. By attending our monthly meetings, you will gain an understanding of the workings of local government and what is going on locally and nationally.

Bringing Local People Together

We are here to help make things happen which will protect and promote the identity of West Linton.

Planning

The Community Council is a statutory consultee on planning matters.  The Community Council considers Policies and regulations passed by Local and Central Government when deciding whether or not to support an application.  Comments from neighbours and other residents are also considered and therefore welcomed and encouraged. Planning applications can be viewed on Scottish Borders e-Planning web site

The Alice Hamilton Trust

The West Linton Community Council also has a role in supporting The Alice Hamilton Trust, which manages a fund from which monies can be drawn to be spent on projects that benefit the whole of the community. Recently, the Trust has funded the cost of a new bridge over the Lyne and the cost of a new public address system for the Whipman. If you would like to get in touch regarding The Alice Hamilton Trust, please contact the West Linton Community Council and we can put you in touch with the trustees.

The Betty Aikman Fund

Additionally, The West Linton Community Council supports The Betty Aikman Fund, which disburses funds to school leavers to assist in the cost of moving on into higher or further education. If you would like to get in touch regarding The Betty AIkman Fund, please contact the West Linton Community Council and we can put you in touch with the trustees.

Transport

West Linton Community Council is fortunate enough to receive updates on the bus services to and from West Linton from our valued team member Mervyn.
We also campaign for road safety in the area.
