Following the reduction in bus service linking Edinburgh to Dumfries due to Scottish Borders Council removing £100,000 of funding, two evening services linking West Linton and Carlops were removed.
After a lot of hard work, Cllr Heather Anderson and West Linton Community Council are happy to announce the launch of an 8-seater taxi service to run six evenings a week, excluding Sunday, leaving the bus stop at Lidl, Penicuik at 2115, 2215 and 2315 to coincide with the arrival of the X62 bus from Edinburgh.
The taxi is guaranteed at the cost of the bus fare, currently £2.40. If the bus fare increases then the cost of the taxi will also increase by the same amount. The service is open to residents of Carlops , West Linton and Loanend, Dolphinton and areas in-between.
To allow us to monitor the scheme we require users to be registered. If you wish to use the service, please register by providing your name and address to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Registration is free and you will be issued with a membership card which you must present to the driver.
Only those who have telephoned the taxi company and provided their membership number will be guaranteed a seat, others may travel if there is space. Drop-off is at bus stops along the A702 between Carlops and Loanend, Dolphinton.
